The Principal and the Rector are jointly responsible for the leadership of the College community in its day-to-day operations and its strategic direction. As the Chief Executive Officer of the College, the Principal assumes responsibility for the day-to-day running of the College, employment contracts and the curriculum while the Rector is responsible for maintaining the religious ethos of the College and providing pastoral care to the staff and students, as well as that of the wider College community including Old Boys and past parents of the College.



Mr Mark Tannock


Mark Tannock was appointed as the first lay Principal of St Aloysius' College in 2014.

Mark was educated at John XXIII College in Western Australia. After completing his undergraduate study in Western Australia, Mark was accepted into the Alliance of Catholic Education, a teacher service program offered by the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. 

He spent two years teaching at St Joseph Catholic School in Jackson, Mississippi. Returning to Western Australia, Mark taught at Christian Brothers schools including CBC, Fremantle where he served as Head of Department, Director of Staff and Deputy-Headmaster during five years at the College. 

In 2008, Mark was appointed Executive Director of the Sydney Campus of the University of Notre Dame Australia and, later that year, Dean of Education. He was an Associate Professor of Education.  He returned to Perth in 2011 and was appointed Pro Vice Chancellor of the Fremantle Campus of the University, a position he held until his appointment to St Aloysius’ College.

Mark holds an Honours degree in History from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Portland, a Masters in Educational Leadership from Boston College and a Masters in Religious Education from the University of Notre Dame Australia.




Fr Peter HoskingRev Fr Peter Hosking SJ


Fr Peter Hosking SJ has been Rector of St Aloysius’ College, Milsons Point since 2011.

He was educated at Saint Ignatius’ College, Adelaide, entered the Jesuits in I975 and was ordained in 1987.

Fr Hosking is a clinical psychologist and has extensive experience working with refugees and asylum seekers in Australia and overseas. He has been Director of Jesuit Refugee Service both in Australia (1988-93) and in East Timor (1999-2000) and was a Director of Uniya (1993-96) the former Jesuit Social Policy Centre at Saint Canice’s parish in Kings Cross. He has assisted with trauma counselling and psychosocial projects in various countries in South East Asia.

For some years Fr Hosking worked as a senior clinician and clinical supervisor at ConneXions (1996-2006) a program of Jesuit Social Services in Melbourne. He taught at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview (1982) and served as Parish priest of the Saint Ignatius’ Parish (1996-99, 2001-04) in Richmond, Victoria.

He has worked in youth ministry, in the ministry of the Spiritual Exercises and with the formation of Jesuits.

Most recently Fr Hosking worked in the Province leadership team as Socius to the Provincial (2004-10) firstly with Mark Raper SJ and then with Steve Curtin SJ, supporting Jesuits and companions, assisting with ministry planning, professional standards and as Provincial Delegate for Social Ministries.
