St Aloysius’ College is a Catholic independent day school for boys for approximately 1250 students from Year 3 to 12. St Aloysius’ is conducted by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) who in co-operation with students families provide a Catholic education which:
- Proposes Christ as the model of human life
- Pursues excellence in teaching and learning
- Promotes lifelong learning and spiritual growth
The College offers enrolment for new students in Years 3, 5 and 7 with Year 5 being the main intake year. St Aloysius’ is a partially selective school (partially selective in that prospective students should fit comfortably into the academic system of teaching offered at the College).
All students seeking entry to the College are invited to sit an entrance examination. For Year 3 and 5 applicants this exam is held one year prior to the preferred year of entry and for students applying for Year 7 the exam is two years prior. Year 3 and 5 applications close in the January one year prior to the desired year of entry and two years prior to the preferred year of entry for Year 7.
In the selection of students, the College takes into consideration factors other than just academic results and looks for the ‘whole person’. As a Catholic school the family’s faith commitment and service involvement are important. Families with a connection to St Aloysius’ or a Jesuit school are considered but enrolment is not guaranteed on this basis.
At the time your son is due to the sit the entrance examination the College will request further supporting documentation, including a Clergy Reference which will assist in assessing your son’s application.
Applications for Years 3 and 5, 2018 and Year 7, 2019 are now closed. The College is still accepting applications for Years 3 and 5, 2019 and Year 7, 2020 and beyond.
If you would like to apply for your son please complete and return the Application for Enrolment and return to the Registrar with payment of the $250 application fee. If you are interested in possible admission in Year 8 to 11 please contact the Registrar for further information.
As St Aloysius' College is not a "full-feeing paying overseas students school", only applicants who are permanent residents of Australia, or whose families have a current Australian working visa (copy of passport must be submitted) are eligible to apply for admission to the College.
